The MAGIC 65 study, which was completed by the Regional Planning Commission of greater Birmingham and the Alabama DOT in 2007, looked at the feasibility of HOV lanes and Bus Rapid Transit along I-65 and US 31 from Calera to Gardendale. Study findings indicated that implementation of these types of facilities is feasible from Valleydale Road to Downtown Birmingham.
