Public Involvement
The Public Involvement Plan for the I-65 / US 31
Mobility Matters Project is designed to involve governmental agencies
and the public as participants in the project development process and
allow these participants to provide meaningful input to the outcomes of
the project.
The Public Involvement Plan provides tools for both
disseminating project-related information and gathering input that
reflects community concerns and interests. Citizens and
community leaders are encouraged to actively participate in the project
development process for the I-65 / US 31 Mobility Matters Project.
Two public meetings have been held: on September 2, 2008 at
the RPC of Greater Birmingham in downtown Birmingham and on September 9, 2008
at Shades Mountain Elementary School in Hoover. Information from
those meetings is available by clicking here or by selecting the Project Collateral and Information tab on the left.
Another round of public outreach events was held March
31, 2009 throughout the day in various venues in the Birmingham metro
area--BJCTA Central Station in the morning, Riverchase Galleria Mall in
the afternoon, and the Birmingham-Homewood Holiday Inn in the early
evening. The purpose of these informal sessions was to collect
information from the public about potential transit locations along
I-65. What do you think? We want to hear from you! Please click here (or below) to fill out the public comment form.
